To whet golfers’ appetites before the season, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is hosting a late-summer tournament to cater to year-round players of the sport.

The inaugural Saadiyat Summer Open, presented by Southern Sun Abu Dhabi, will take place in the nation’s capital on Saturday, August 15 at the UAE’s first oceanfront course, designed by Gary Player.

Open to men’s, women’s and junior – age 15 and under – divisions, the 18-hole strokeplay is open to all and a much-welcomed addition to the club’s tournament calendar. 

“A lot of our members and regular guests have been asking for a special tournament to plug this gap in our calendar and we’re confident the Saadiyat Summer Open will become a popular addition to our tournament offering,” said Scott McCaw, Saadiyat Beach GC’s director of club operations.

The Saadiyat Summer Open arrives ahead of the club’s fourth event on the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Golf Tour – the $50,000 ASCORP Golf Citizen Abu Dhabi Open from September 21-23. It also tees off before the club’s end-of-summer renovations, meaning that golfers can play on an untouched course.

If the high temperatures of summer have kept you from hitting the greens the past few months, Saadiyat is the perfect place to sharpen your skills ahead of the tournament.

The club boasts a team of PGA pros at the Golf Academy by Troon Golf, led by head teaching professional Martin Robinson. You can even take advantage of the club’s Southern Sun Saadiyat Sundowner every Thursday with tee times from 16:00 to 17:00.

Registration is open until August 13 and costs Dh450 for Emirates Golf Federation members and UAE residents. 

Along with entry, the fee inc-ludes use of the club’s practice facilities before the 13:30 shotgun start, shared cart with GPS and a delicious awards buffet with prizes from Southern Sun Abu Dhabi up for grabs.
