Some golfers have gone their entire lifetime without making a hole-in-one, and then you have Andrew Cumming. The Dubai-based six-year-old recently made his second ace in less than one year.

Sport360 had reported Andrew’s first ace, aged five, on the eighth hole of the Academy course last year, on March 29. And recently, playing one of the Order of Merit competitions for his age group in the Junior Development Programme of The Montgomerie, Dubai, Andrew was at it again when his tee shot found the bottom of the cup on the fourth hole – the shortest but the scariest with a carry over water. He used a nine-iron for his tee shot.

Andrew’s effort was watched by his coach Michael Jamieson. Andrew and his family have been living in Dubai for the past four years. He is a Year One student at the Horizon School.

Indian Golf Society tournament on Thursday

A full field is expected to tee it up when the Al Badia Challenge gets underway at Al Badia Golf Club tomorrow with a 13:00 start.

Organised by the Indian Golfers Society (IGS), the event is aimed at providing a platform for amateur golfers to network and interact within a cosmopolitan community.

“Al Badia Challenge is one of our major events of the season and the overwhelming response to it is an apt reflection on the great sense of camaraderie among the participants,” said Devanand Kurup, the tournament coordinator.

The tournament, sponsored Bentley, Midcom, Al Dahra, Kohinoor, Chivas and Aipl Golf, will follow the individual stableford format with competition being held in two divisions.
