Sport360°’s Middle East Golf Awards return with 15 new categories

After its massive success in the inaugural year, the Middle East Golf Awards (MEGAs) are back, and the spotlight will be on players and individuals when the red carpet is rolled out on December 11.

The success of the golf industry in the Middle East is well documented now, and it contributes massively not only to overall lifestyle and experience of the many fans of the game living here, but also for the overall economic and tourism growth.

And the MEGAs, which are owned and organised by Sport360°, in association with the region’s golf bodies and sports councils, are an attempt to recognise the amazing achievements that have already been accomplished and to encourage continued success.

A black tie event, the MEGAs set a new standard of golf awards, and, as an annual fixture, reflects the ambitions of everyone involved in golf in the region.

Unlike last year, which was more about the golf courses and the behind-the-scene workers, the 2014 edition will focus on personalities, with 15 new categories being
introduced. These will recognise the achievements of the region’s top golfers, and the standout individuals in the golf industry.

Troon Golf, one of the biggest operators of golf courses in the world, have already joined the MEGAs as one of the main sponsors.

And Mark Chapleski, area managing director, Troon Golf, said: “Troon and our associated facilities in the region are pleased to support the Middle East Golf Awards again this year. Sport360° is the leader in the sports media arena here and as such their award accolades carry significant weight in the industry.”

Winners will be picked through a system of public and judge voting. Submissions are now open, and will close on October 25. Nominated finalists will be announced at a press conference on November 5.

The awards are again supported by Dubai Sports Council and all the respective golf federations in the GCC, with Saudi Arabian Golf Federation being involved with the event for the first time.

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 11 at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai.

The evening will commence with a cocktail reception, followed by a three course dinner, and the awards ceremony.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, November 5 priced at Dh500, with tables of 10 available at Dh4,850.
