Real Estate tycoon Donald Trump was confident that a second golf course in Dubai bearing his name, announced yesterday by UAE’s leading real estate developer, DAMAC Properties, will elevate the status of the already strong golf industry in the region.

Enthused by the success of their first golf course community at Akoya, DAMAC have announced they will be developing the ‘Trump World Golf Club Dubai’ – a second golf course in association with the Trump Organisation – in their new 55 million sq ft master development, AKOYA Oxygen in Dubailand.

Like the Gil Hanse-designed Trump International Golf Club, which is part of Akoya and on the verge of completion – it is expected to open to the public in the second half of 2015 – it will be an 18-hole championship course.

However, information on the golf course designer and other details of the golf course will be released at a later date. DAMAC’s release only mentions “a world-renowned golf professional” to be unveiled as the designer in the coming weeks.

Trump, Chairman & President of The Trump Organisation, said: “I have been hugely impressed with the quality and professionalism of everything in Dubai and it was a natural progression to bring another world-class course to the emirate.

“The Trump World Golf Club Dubai will complement the Trump International Golf Club and its residential component perfectly and elevate Dubai’s already strong golf industry to the highest levels of luxury.”

Commenting on the announcement, Ziad El Chaar, Managing Director, DAMAC Properties, said: “This golf course will complement the ethos of AKOYA Oxygen, as the greenest and most lush living environment anywhere in the region.

“The Trump Organisation is renowned as the best golf course owners and operators in the world and will deliver the highest quality service to players.”

The Trump World Golf Club Dubai will become the 18th golf course in his portfolio, which also includes the legendary Trump Turnberry in Scotland and the Trump National Doral in Miami.
