The J9SOX Challenge returns for its second year at The Track, Meydan Golf Club in Dubai this Thursday, where there are still some places to compete in the charity golf event which lives under the mantra that “sometimes in life you don’t always have a choice”.

All proceeds will go to J9 Foundation, set up by former South African scrum-half Joost van der Westhuizen who was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in 2011, and will be in attendance on the night.

The challenge is split into two parts: The 24-hour golfathon and J9SOX Challenge.

While the golfathon, which begins at 18:30 on April 9, will be played by Greg Holmes, UAE PGA Chief Executive and PGA Golf Professional, the J9SOX Challenge on April 10 is still open to enter for the Ryder Cup format in the four-ball competition, although few places are available.

There is no minimum age or handicap for those who wish to enter, but organisers are encouraging people to register quickly before the allotted 60 spaces are filled.

Following the golfathon, the J9SOX Challenge will take place.

All competitors will receive a brightly coloured pair of socks which will be mandatory to wear, as will walking the course.

A dinner, raffle and auction will take place at the end with all proceeds going to J9 Foundation.

If you are keen to take part in the challenge, then green fees cost Dh500, which includes dinner.

Alternatively, dinner slots are still available at Dh200. For more information, email frances@d4rce.com.
