Throughout the weekend there were a number of fundraising activities at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council event, including a ‘Keepy-Uppy challenge’ and a silent auction which culminated in a Live Auction during the Gala Dinner at Yas Marina Circuit.

Among a host of remarkable auction prizes was a bespoke painting of Rory McIlroy in action during the Pro-Am, painted by renowned French artist Remi Bartoche in time for the evening auction.

World No.3 and 4-time Major winner McIlroy also donated a pair of golf shoes from the day and a promise of a signed shirt from the Sunday singles matches at this year’s Ryder Cup.

On the golf course, rising amateur Bryson DeChambeau was the star of the pro-am, firing a 65 to register the best score of the day.

The American sensation was ineligible for the individual professional prize, which was shared by four players: Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, Alexander Levy, Matthew Baldwin and Felipe Aguilar, who all shot 67.

The team pro-am competition went to DeChambeau and his Emirati professional partner Ahmed Al Musharrekh, whose betterball score was an 11-under-par 61.

The individual Amateur Championship on Saturday went to American Robert Hissom.
