13:07 04/12/2013

Voting for Sport360°’s latest initiative – MEGA (Middle East Golf Awards) – only opened last week, but already more than 2,100 votes have been cast with golf fans getting behind their favourite clubs, courses and equipment.

Public voting started last Thursday after as many as 159 entries were received for the 10 categories that will be decided by the fans.

Public voting is open until October 28, and the shortlist will be announced on October 31 in a press conference alongside the European Tour during the Challenge Tour Grand Final at Dubai Festival City.

Nick Tarratt, Director of The  European Tour International – Dubai Office, said: “The European Tour is delighted to be supporting the MEGAs. These are exciting times for European Tour golf and golf in this region and the MEGAs will only add to this increased  interest and credibility both locally and internationally.”

Apart from the European Tour, Emirates Golf Federation and  Qatar Golf Association have also given the annual awards function their official seal of approval.

The inaugural MEGAs will be handed over in a black-tie dinner on Wednesday, December 11. The evening’s red-carpet function will be preceded by a golf day at a leading golf course in Dubai. Both the venues will be announced next week.

To cast your vote, visit www.sport360.com/mega.

And as an added incentive for those who vote, a daily prize of adidas body care packs, valued at Dh100, will be given out to one person.

Apart from adidas, who are category sponsors, the MEGAs also enjoy support of media partners WorldWide Golf, Dubai Eye 103.8 and Arabian Golf TV.
