Tiger Woods shot his worst round of the tournament as he fell short in his quest to win a first title since 2013 at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro.

Starting the day two off the lead, Woods could only manage an even-par 70 as he finished four shots behind Davis Love III, who became the third-oldest winner in PGA Tour history at the age of 51.

A bogey on the seventh saw Woods cast further adrift of the leading players. However, he birdied the par-four ninth to set him up for the back nine only to suffer a nightmare on the 11th.

Woods took seven shots for a triple-bogey, with a wayward drive, a poor approach and then a dreadful chip from a relatively easy position on a ridge above the green.

He managed to rescue his round with three birdies in succession from 13-15 and again on the 18th but the leaders were out of sight
