Ian Poulter has relieved the organisers of the DP World Tour Championship of some anxious moments when his tied sixth place finish at the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai secured him a place in the season-ending tournament of the European Tour.

All 12 members of Paul McGinley’s victorious Ryder Cup team will reunite for the first time since their emphatic 16.5-11.5 victory over the USA at Gleneagles when the DP World Tour Championship gets underway at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 20. Poulter was the only member of the European team outside the top-60 in the Race to Dubai.

But the 38 year old put in a fine display at Sheshan International to finish in a tie for sixth place and earn 301,447 points to move into the all-important top 60 and is now ranked 42nd in the Race to Dubai.

Justin Rose, who was Europe’s top scorer at Gleneagles, is looking forward to the reunion.

“It’ll be great to re-unite with the other members of the European Ryder Cup team,” said Rose.

Nick Tarratt, director of The European Tour, International, Dubai Office, said: “It is tremendous to now have confirmation that all 12 players from the winning European Team from the 2014 Ryder Cup will be with us.”
