As a two-time major champion Martin Kaymer knows all about the highs of life as a professional golfer.

Unfortunately the two years since his 2014 US Open victory have been the most testing of his career.

The German’s lost his PGA Tour card and is now facing the prospect of missing out on this year’s Ryder Cup as well.

“Usually I am a very patient player,” admitted the 31-year-old. “I wouldn’t even say I’m stressed now but it is frustrating when you feel like you have it all, and then suddenly you can’t even put a good score on the card.

“The Masters affects the way you practice, the way you prepare. Obviously it is all about the majors in our career and you have to plan a couple of months in advance what sort of tournaments you want to be playing in before them.”
