The Dubai Desert Classic became the Middle East's first European Tour event when it first took place in 1989 and has remained an ever-present on the golfing calendar since.

Ernie Else is the tournament's most prolific champion having won the event on three occasions, a feat that current back-to-back champ Stephen Gallacher is out to repeat this year at Emirates Golf Club.
