If you’re looking for a real test of endurance, push your limits to the brink as you try to survive the Urban-Ultra 24hr Insomnia.

The second edition of the popular event, which successfully debuted last year, will be held on Friday, December 11 at Al Qudra, Dubai.

Holding a Bronze Level sanction by the International Association of Ultra Runners (IAU), the 24hr Insomnia will feature participants running for as long as they can on a 500m flat circuit.

There will be rest stations available with food and drinks, as well as support stations where friends and family can cheer runners on, but the more your stop to rest, the fewer laps you’ll be able to complete so strategy will play a huge role.

True to the event’s name, the main run will be the 24hr, which will test the willpower to fight off sleep and fatigue.

A tented area will be set up next to the start/finish line, but all camping equipment such as sleeping bags and pillows will be the responsibility of runners.

If the 24hr run seems too daunting, a 12hr and 6hr run will also take place. While the 24hr and 12hr are open to both individuals and teams of four, the 6hr run is for solo runners only.

While you can choose the materials you’ll need to last the duration, a recommended gear list includes a blister kit, tent mat, headlamp, batteries, scissors, a light jacket, spare duct tape, medication and some nutrition.

All runners will earn a finisher medal, even if you don’t actually stick around until the end, with the overall team and individuals winners receiving specially-made Urban-Ultra trophies.

The event starts at noon at Arabian Ranches in Dubai and will finish at either 18:00, midnight or noon the following day.

Registration can be done online at www.premieronline.com, with more information regarding the 24hr Insomnia at www.urbanultra.com.

The final day to sign up is before midnight on Saturday, December 5.
