Endurance sports lovers can get back in the groove with Ironstar Indoor Triathlon Series’ second race of the season.

With five races across five summer months, the series aims to keep triathletes active during a time of the year when the heat takes away the option for outdoor activities.

By holding their triathlons indoors, Ironstar are giving athletes plenty of reason to keep swimming, running and biking during the summer.

On top of that, Ironstar’s special feature is that these triathlons aren’t based on a set distance, but rather on how far athletes can go in the time given, which makes the format appealing to experienced triathletes and newcomers who want to break into triathlons for the first time.

Registration is open for the second race of the season, held on Saturday, June 23 at Jebel Ali Recreation Club.

Participants can choose to race individually in male or female categories (18 years and above), or be part of a relay team, in which each member will start and finish simultaneously.

The race format for individual athletes includes a 10-minute swim in the pool (25 metres), a 30-minute ride on a stationary bike (stages) and a 20-minute run on a treadmill (LifeFitness).

For relay teams, the format consists of a 30-minute swim, a 30-minute bike ride and a 30-minute run.

After the races, an awards ceremony will be held as the top three finishers in the male, female and team categories receive trophies.

At the end of the series, following the fifth race, the top finishers for the season will be rewarded. Two male, two female and one team in the two age groups (18-39 and 40-plus) will be announced on September 15 based on their performance at a minimum of three races.
