If you’re looking for something where you’ll be pushed to the limits in a gruelling obstacle course, then look no further than the Wadi Adventure Race (WAR).

It might be a long way away with it returning on Saturday, April 21 at Wadi Adventure in Al Ain, but you can start your preparation now for what has become a very popular event since it was launched in 2012.

For those who enter, they can expect to tackle a course that will see them crawl, jump, climb and swim their way through various obstacles.

And whatever your ability, there are three categories to choose from. The event has three courses – 5k, 10k and 15k distances, depending on your fitness. The 5k is divided into three categories – ‘Above Average Fitness’, ‘Average Fitness’ and ‘Just For Fun’, while the 10k has the same as well as the ‘Extremely Fit’ category.

For those who want to test themselves further, there is the 15k ‘The ‘Average Fitness’ section, while there is Elite distances in 5km, 10km and 15km.

“The Wadi Adventure Race series began in November 2012 with 75 participants and a handful of spectators,” said Tijo John, sales and marketing manager at Wadi Adventure.

“Since then, each subsequent event has seen a massive spike in interest and popularity from runners, spectators and sponsors alike; with a whopping 900 participants taking part in WAR 6; which then became a standard participant number for the series that followed. The obstacle numbers has also increased from 20 to around 40 military styled obstacles.”

And John insists competitors can look forward to a unique experience.

“The race has maintained its unique element given the terrain,” he said. “The race incorporates deserts, mountains, valleys, farm lands and Wadi Adventure park activities making it the best one of its kind in the Middle East.”

To help you achieve the best possible result, there will be warm-up sessions prior to the event along with a sponsors’ village, featuring food and beverage outlets.
