Parents wanting to give their children the best opportunity to succeed in athletics, need look no further than Super Sports FUNdamental Athletics DXB.
The athletics institution, which is part of Super Sports Academy, has only been open for a couple of weeks and run by two ex-international athletes – Andy Toward and Robert Turner, who want to pass on their knowledge to the UAE’s stars of tomorrow.
Open to youths aged between 3-18, classes are held at numerous locations around Dubai – including GEMS World Academy, Safa Community School, Dubai American Academy and Dubai International Academy.
There are three categories of training groups with FUNdamentals (3-6 years) focusing on the basics, while their Learning to Train programme (7-11 years) will give them exposure to the different disciplines in athletics.
For those aged between 12-18, they will get a chance to specialise in particular events and go through a structured training regime and compete in competitions.
“Most of our coaches have represented internationally and come with an abundance of experience,” said Toward of FUNdamental Athletics DXB.
Super Sports FUNdamental Athletics DXB is held at locations across Dubai.
“With this in mind, we want each and every student to gain as much as possible from the sessions and training we provide. “Sport in general is very popular among children in Dubai and it is our mission to enable children to fundamentally access as many sports as possible through giving them the essential transferable skills such as running, jumping and throwing.
“As part of our incentive programme, we will also be offering free scholarships to those top athletes representing in the various track and field championships around Dubai.”
The one-hour classes are run in the evenings from Sunday to Tuesday, while morning sessions are available on Saturdays.
“The reasons to join are very simple. We are convenient as we have many venues across Dubai with various timings to choose from,” said Toward.
