With autumn approaching and summer coming to a close, it’s the time of the year again when UAE residents can return to playing sport outdoors.
As always, the Abu Dhabi Softball League, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of UAE Culture, Youth and Community Development, offers the chance to enjoy a fun and competitive activity for players of all levels.
The co-ed slow-pitch season, will begin in the third week of September, after the Eid holidays, and registration is still open for the popular Recreational Division.
Whether you’ve played softball before or want to try it for the first time, the Recreational Division is perfect to get your feet wet while having some with friends, family and co-workers on the diamond.
“Slow-pitch softball is a very inclusive and easy-to-learn sport. No matter if you’ve never played before, or you can hit the ball out of the park, the league offers a division for any man or woman who would like to play,” said Flo Caro, commissioner of Abu Dhabi Softball League.
“It’s a fun atmosphere at the field and gives players the chance to meet new people in the city. Equipment is provided free of charge to all league members.”

If you don’t have the necessary equipment to play, don’t worry. Abu Dhabi Softball has you covered with gloves, bats, balls and more available free of charge for all league members.
Games, which will take place on Wednesday nights starting September 21, are about an hour long and the only requirement to play is you must be aged at least 18 years.
Registration is now open and will be done in a first-come, first-served manner. The league is very popular and the waiting list fills up fast, so make sure to act as soon as possible before the deadline on Thursday, September 1 at 19:00.
