Their one-day 3×3 Basketball League returns for another edition on August 6 at Dubai Sports World and with 12 teams already signed up, there’s just enough time to join them ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.
Running from 09:00 to 15:00 at the indoor facility, there are three different categories – men’s, women’s and for the first time mixed.
“We held the same tournament last year and it was a big success,” said Kris Belen, league administrator at Duplays.
“The men’s and women’s tournaments were extremely popular and a lot of people were asking whether we could hold a mixed division.
“We now listened to their feedback and we are happy to have this as part of the tournament.”
Mixed squads must be of five players – two men and three women, with two females on court during the games.

As UAE’s biggest sport and social club with over 5,000 members, Duplays know a thing or two about organising leagues and tournaments across numerous sports.
Their portfolio includes volleyball, football and badminton and it’s no surprise that basketball has been a huge success.
“Basketball is very popular in the UAE and we’ve seen that 3×3 format is equally popular,” said Belen.
“3×3 is a short and fast-paced game with just one basket to aim for.”
Each category will have a maximum of eight teams with the format played in a league and knockout stage.
Players must be 18 and over and entry of each team costs Dh350.With a few days to go until Tuesday’s deadline, Belen insists there’s plenty of positives to signing up.
“Basketball is a fun sport and it doesn’t matter whether you’ve played it or not as it’s open to all abilities,” she said.
“It’s played in Dubai Sports World which is a fantastic venue and has great sporting facilities and it’s an opportunity to still play sport even during the hot months.
“Already 12 teams have signed up but we expect that number to increase so now’s the time to register for what will be a fun day out.
“At Duplays, we always put on a good show and the 3×3 Basketball League will be no different.”
