Going Out: Check out great shows and flashy cars at the Gulf Car Festival

Dubai is known for hosting flashy cars on its roads and the Gulf Car Festival only grows the emirate’s reputation as a hub of exotic motoring.

The inaugural event in 2014 set the bar high with 400 show-cars worth an estimated Dh75 million and the second edition is set to build up on that success.

Around 800 cars from the UAE and neighbouring Gulf countries are expected to be featured over three days at Bay Avenue in Business Bay, Dubai on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in three days of motoring mayhem.

Each day will have a theme, with American muscle on Thursday, super cars/exotics/Euro/classics on Friday and JDM/tuners/trucks on Saturday.

Along with a stunning line-up of classic American muscle cars and an opening ceremony, day one will have the region’s No. 1 stunt driver showcasing their jaw-dropping feats in their first show ever in Dubai.

The driver’s name has been kept secret but they’re sure to dazzle members of the audience from 19:30 to 19:45. Following the show, a rev battle competition, which will also be held on the following two days, will have engines roaring to life.

As a word of caution, be prepared for the competition to get really loud and have your eardrums humming. It should be well worth it, though.

Participating car clubs will also be up for awards, with individual honours going to car owners in various categories. Guests can also walk away with a number of prizes in draws which will add a bit of incentive to stick around on all three days.

Other features during the weekend will include exhibition stands, exhibitor promotions and offers, an action arena, gaming simulators, celebrity appearances, food and beverages, live entertainment and more.

Thursday’s festivities run from 18:00 to 22:00, while Friday and Saturday will take place from 17:30 to 22:00.

Purchase tickets online at tickets.virginmegastore.me, with a one-day pass costing Dh55 and the full three-day pass costing Dh90. Children below the age of 13 will be allowed free access, provided they’re with an adult.
