Hundreds of budding young footballers will take to the field on Friday for the Silicon 7s Football Tournament in Dubai.

More than 70 teams have already signed up for the exciting event, which will be taking place all day at GEMS Wellington Academy in Silicon Oasis.

There is still plenty of time to register a team, with each team needing to pay Dh600 to enter. The teams will play in six different age groups from Under-6 to U-16, with the tournament kicking off at 08:00 and ending at 19:30.

The U-6 tournament will be a five-a-side format and be played from 08:00-11:00. All other age groups will play seven on seven, with the U-8s and U-10s also playing from 08:00 to 11:00. The U-12s section gets underway at 16:00 and will finish at 19:30, while the U-14s and U-16s tournaments will both kick off at 12:00 noon and end at 16:00.

E-Sports Football Club communications manager, Jessica Prelle, said: “Taking place for the second tim, the Silicon 7s have proved hugely popular. It’s a day full of football and a great day out for the whole family.

“Playing small-sided games encourages a lot of touches on the ball and the kids are really encouraged to get involved in the game.”
