France registered a 2-0 win over Uruguay to progress to the semi-finals of World Cup 2018, on Friday.

Goals from Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann helped Didier Deschamps’ men succeed in the quarter-final fixture at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

Here, we take a look at the goals from the game, as France advanced to the semi-final of the tournament for a sixth time.

A free-kick on the right, was taken by Griezmann, and it was delivered well in the Uruguayan penalty area, where Varane had made a fine run and he headed it at the far post.

Griezmann found space on the edge of the Uruguay penaty area in the 61st minute, and took a shot which went straight at goalkeeper Muslera. But instead of catching it, he tried to parry it and what should have been a routine save ended up in the back of the net.
