Veteran referee Pierluigi Collina has explained FIFA’s guidelines regarding VAR and how the use of the technology at the World Cup will be communicated to fans.

The system has come under scrutiny for leaving fans clueless and in the lurch while the referee views the screen.

Collina, the chairman of FIFA’s referees committee, says fans will get a message once the match referee’s final decision is made, and a clip of the incident will be replayed on the stadium’s screen.

Watch Collina’s full explanation of how VAR will be applied in Russia.
