Sergio Ramos has responded to the shock decision to sack Spain boss Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the World Cup.

La Roja’s preparations were thrown into turmoil as Lopetegui lost his job following Tuesday’s announcement he would leave to take over at Real Madrid after the finals in Russia.

Fernando Hierro will step in to lead Spain and Ramos issued a passionate message to supporters ahead of their Group B opener against Portugal on Friday.

“We represent the badge, the colours, the fans, the country. Responsibility and commitment are with you. Yesterday, today and tomorrow,” he tweeted.
