The semi-final hammering Germany gave Brazil was a remarkable spectacle. It broke a variety of records but one of the most interesting accolades involves social network Twitter.

Germany's 7-1 win against Brazil was the most discussed single sports game in the history of Twitter.

There was an astonishing 35.6 million tweets during the match. 

Before last night's match, the five most Tweeted moments of the World Cup were:
