Ronaldo holds no fear for confident USA

Cristiano Ronaldo may well be one of the most feared players on the planet but it seems the USA team are far from daunted by facing the Real Madrid striker on Sunday.

Ther former Manchester United forward looked far from his best in Portugal's opening World Cup game, while the USA pulled off a major shock in defeating Ghana.

And while Ronaldo remains Portugal's biggest threat, USA midfielder Jermaine Jones feels his side have a genuine chance of making it two wins from two.

"When we stick together like a team and fight like we did it against Ghana, then I think we have a chance to win this game," said Jones.

However, he also made it clear that his side were preparing for more than just facing Ronaldo.

"We have a lot of respect for Cristiano. He's a great player. But I think you have to respect for the whole team of Portugal."

However, Michael Bradley made it clear who he thought was the main threat.

"He's a complete player," claimed midfielder Bradley. "When you look at the game today, there's such a premium on the physical aspect of the game – speed, strength, endurance – and he is a guy who checks all those boxes.

"And then when you talk about his technical ability – the way he shoots with his right foot, his left foot, how good in the air he is – he's somebody who can make the difference at any moment."

Portugal will be looking for an instant reaction against the USA after losing 4-0 in their opening fixture to Germany.
