Lionel Messi has urged Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella to use a more attacking formation throughout the rest of the World Cup, starting with the game against Iran.

Messi wants to be part of a three-man attack with Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain, the same trio that appeared in the second half of Argentina's win over Bosnia.

“We are Argentina and I think we need to concentrate on ourselves without fixating on who we are playing,” said Messi.

“We feel more comfortable with two up front and me behind because it makes it easier to counter-attack and, because we have more people in attack, we have more possibilities.”

In their tight 2-1 win against Bosnia,  Sabella started the game using a 5-3-2 formation before bringing on Higuain who linked superbly well with Messi for the Barcelona stars stunning goal.

Despite questionning the tactics of his coach, it seems Sabella may well be taking Messi’s comments into consideration.

“Messi has said many times that he likes the 4-3-3 system. He didn’t say anything new and he said it respectfully. It doesn’t bother me at all,” Sabella told reporters. “We live in a cordial atmosphere with respect for everyone."
