Ajax ratings as Andre Onana and Matthijs de Ligt star despite soul-crushing defeat

An incredible season in the Champions League took another unbelievable turn when Lucas Moura scored his hat-trick goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time, completing a comeback in Amsterdam that somehow trumped Liverpool’s from the night before.

Tottenham looked down and out when Matthijs De Ligt and Hakim Ziyech scored in quick succession in the first half, but Spurs, needing three goals to win, turned to Moura in the second half.

The Brazilian scored a quickfire double before sending the Spurs section of the Johan Cruyff Arena into pandemonium – setting up an all-English final in Madrid.

Our Spurs ratings are below …

AJAX (4-3-3)

Andre Onana – Came up big with a save from Alli, then Llorente – but couldn’t gather the ball to stop the goal – and lastly Vertonghen 8

Noussair Mazraoui – Chosen ahead of Veltman at right-back but didn’t really bring a greater attacking threat as billed 6

Matthijs De Ligt – Another great header, crucial block to prevent Moura from notching third. Nutmegged in build-up for first 8

Daley Blind – Classy on ball but had a few wobbly moments with Spurs’ physicality in the second half 6

Nicolas Tagliafico – Came up with a multitude of blocks and clearances, but tired towards the end 7

Lasse Schone – Nipped ball away from Onana’s grasp before Moura struck his second – but did he get a call? 6

Frenkie de Jong – Metronomic before the break – then didn’t just fade, but disappeared when the team needed him 6

Donny van de Beek – Pops up everywhere in the final third, passing oscillates between sub-standard and sublime. Enigma 7

Hakim Ziyech – Fasting with Mazraoui ahead of the match, but still one of brightest on the pitch. What a hit 8

Kasper Dolberg – Late call-up for Neres and off in all areas, which is noticeable in this well-oiled machine 4

Dusan Tadic – That’s 34 goals and 24 assists after his final ball for Ziyech. Best £10m ever spent in football? 7

SUBSTITUTES

Joel Veltman (60′) – Brought on to try and shore things up, but didn’t make a contribution on the stat lines 5

Daley Sinkgraven (67′) – On the pitch for half an hour but made just eight passes – shows the pressure from Spurs 5

Lisandro Magallán (90′) – Defender entered the fray for last few minutes. N/A
