Ajax dumped three-time reigning champions Real Madrid out of the Champions League in sensational style – subjecting the home side to an embarrassing 4-1 thrashing at the Santiago Beranebu to progress to the quarter-finals 5-3 on aggregate.

Hakim Ziyech, David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schone were the goalscoring heroes on a memorable night for the Dutch club but there were plenty more star showings.

Here are the ratings for the Dutch giants.

AJAX (4-2-3-1)

Onana 7: Didn’t look comfortable on crosses but made a decent stop from Vazquez in the first half and held his nerve.

Mazraoui 7: Had a tough time against Vinicius and Bale, but showed great composure on the ball and regularly got forward.

De Ligt 8: Added to his reputation with a strong and determined performance, showing maturity beyond his years.

Blind 7: Occasionally drifted out of position, but always got back just in the nick of time to make a challenge or clearance.

Tagliafico 7: Disciplined showing from the Argentine left-back, solid at the back and constructive coming forward.

De Jong 8: Showed why Barcelona have signed him with a smooth and powerful midfield display, both on and off the ball.

Tadic was outstanding.

Schone 8: Did a quiet but vital job in the centre of midfield, culminating in a brilliant goal from a free-kick to seal the deal.

Ziyech 8: Rifled home the opener with a fine strike and nearly made it three with a low drive. Always a threat.

Van de Beek 7: Consistently drifted into dangerous positions in front of the Madrid back four, linking play with intelligence.

Tadic 9: Set up first two goals with perfect assists, including gorgeous skill for the second, and scored a sublime third.

Neres 7: Coolly netted the second goal, and came close to a third with a chip. Showed some sparkling skill.

SUBS:

De Wit 6: Another young talent coming through the ranks. Replaced scorer Schone and buzzed around looking busy.

Dolberg 6: Introduced for the tireless Neres in attack and injected some style and a sense of calm.

Veltman N/A: Came on to sure up the flanks for Ajax.
