Tottenham head to PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday evening for a crucial Champions League showdown.

The two sides are yet to get off the mark in Group B so far and both are desperate for a victory to keep their hopes of progressing alive.

Here, Press Association Sport focuses on the Dutch side.

FORM

In domestic terms PSV are probably the most in-form team in Europe. Nine games into their Eredivisie campaign they still have a 100-per-cent record, a five-point gap at the top of the table and a goal difference of plus-33. Mark van Bommel’s side have won their last two matches 4-0 and 6-0.

PEDIGREE

PSV enjoyed two golden eras revolving around a UEFA Cup victory in 1978 and a European Cup win in 1988. They have won the Eredivisie title 24 times and the KNVB Cup nine times.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

The sides met in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup in 2008 when, having lost the first leg 1-0 at White Hart Lane, Spurs levelled the tie on aggregate thanks to Dimitar Berbatov’s late equaliser. It went to penalties and Jermaine Jenas had a chance to win the shootout but his effort was saved by Heurelho Gomes before Pascal Chimbonda put the 14th spot-kick wide.

STAR MAN

Steven Bergwijn is a pacy winger who is reportedly on the radar of Manchester United and Liverpool. The 21-year-old has scored four goals in 11 matches this season and made his international debut for Holland in the 3-0 win over Germany earlier this month.
