Manchester City didn’t exactly cruise past Hoffenheim in their Champions League tie on Tuesday, but Pep Guardiola believes facing tough situations now will prepare his club for what’s to come down the road.

City need a late David Silva winner to get past the Bundesliga outfit, who made the reigning Premier League champions work.

“Maybe for the future its going to be good to live these kind of situations. You cannot go through to quarter-finals, semis, without living these situations,” Guardiola said.

“Manchester City is a fantastic club but has no history of these situations. What happens has given me good signals for our future because we fought against absolutely everything.”
