Lionel Messi’s record against Premier League clubs examined ahead of Chelsea clash

19:01 20/02/2018

Lionel Messi isn’t usually denied in front of goal but Chelsea could keep him quiet for the ninth time on Tuesday night.

In eight games across the space of 12 years, Messi has failed to score against the Blues either at Stamford Bridge or the Nou Camp.

That’s in stark contrast to his record against other Premier League clubs – with Arsenal being a particularly fruitful source of goals.

The only other Premier League team to have shut out Messi is Liverpool, having met them in the Champions League group stages back in 2007 when he was just 19.

The Barcelona talisman’s teenage years and 20s have come and gone without breaching Chelsea – will he change that at Stamford Bridge?
