Thirty-six players between the ages of 11-17, all from the Lycee Francais school, travelled to the UK as part of winning the Cup.

Hussein Murad, CEO of Inspiratus, the organisers of the Cup said: “This trip is to celebrate the achievements of every student who pursued his dream at the Dubai Schools Cup and aspirations to become pro-footballers like those they saw on the pitch at Old Trafford.”

An exclusive training led by Manchester United coaches gave the students first-hand experience of UK football. The students were also treated to a private tour of Old Trafford where they walked down the tunnel and onto the pitch.

Speaking after the match, Corentin Jaouen, captain of the U16 boys’ team, said: “The match was very exciting. I have no words to describe it, it was the derby and it was just fantastic – and Chevrolet and the Dubai Schools Cup is the reason that we got to be here.”

Captain of the U17 girls’ Sabrina Zouein added: “The Dubai Schools Cup is a great tournament, we had to work hard and play hard to get here. The trip has been amazing – we have gotten so much closer as a team.”

And Chahin Hamdaoui, the captain of the U14 boys’ team, said: “For my team, the training was great. We learned a lot and we hope that we will be even stronger next year.”

“Chevrolet would like to, once again, congratulate the winners of the Dubai Schools Cup’s second edition,” said Ahmed Soudodi, regional brand manager for Chevrolet.

“We hope that they enjoyed the experience of watching the riveting Manchester United versus Manchester City match live. The game was packed with a slew of exciting, edge-of-your-seat moments.”
