Al Ain have won the President’s Cup after a 2-1 win over Al Wasl at Zayed Sports City on Thursday night.

The Garden City club took the lead after three minutes through a well-struck goal from Ismail Ahmed.

And the Boss doubled their advantage on 50 minutes when in-form Sweden striker Marcus Berg bagged his 26th goal of the season after a cleverly weighed ball over the top from Omar Abdulrahman.

In the dying minutes of the match, Ciao added a consolation goal for Al Wasl, whose trophy drought wait will continue into its ninth year.

The result keeps Al Ain still in contention of winning the treble after claiming their 13th Arabian Gulf League title last month.

Zoran Mamic’s side will now turn their focus to the AFC Champions League campaign with a Round of 16 tie against Al-Duhail next Tuesday.
