Special training required for Gyan to regain fitness

06:56 28/07/2014

Al Ain have put star striker Asamoah Gyan on a special training programme to help him return quickly to full fitness. The 28-year-old only began pre-season training last Monday after travelling back from his native Ghana following this summer’s exertions at the 2014 World Cup.

Gyan was not considered fit enough to take part in this week’s Al Ain International Friendly Championship.

The Boss coaching staff have decided to put the Black Stars captain on a special programme to get up to speed with his team-mates, who have been in pre-season training for more than a month in anticipation of August’s AFC Champions League quarter-final tie with Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad.

The former Sunderland striker will join the side for their pre-season tour of Austria at the end of the month
