Egypt booked their place in the fifth-place play-off against Poland after seeing off Samsung Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup hosts UAE in a 7-3 success on Friday.

The home side remain without a point in the competition. UAE did level the scores at 3-3 at one point thanks partly to Ahmed’s brace.

However, the Egyptians – ranked 10 places below UAE – finished strongly with a double from the impressive Moustafa moving them into the battle for fifth where they will face the Poles.

Egypt needed just 20 seconds to get in front as Ahmed tucked home the opener, with Samir’s deflected strike doubling the advantage with five minutes remaining of the first period.

There were just 14 seconds left when Ahmad pulled one back for the hosts, with the midfielder also calmly converting a spot-kick shortly after the restart.

Egypt were back in front when Mohamed produced an overhead kick from close range but a calm side-foot finish from captain Ali Karim deservedly put UAE level once more.

The visitors continued to demonstrate a cutting edge up front, Hassane volleying home shortly before the final period with Moustafa capping a quick counter early in the third to give Egypt breathing space.

The defender added a second shortly after, curling a fine effort past Bahri, with goalkeeper Fawzy capping the scoring, leaving UAE to focus on their seventh-place clash with USA.
