Jefferson Farfan looking forward to fresh challenge with Al Jazira

Jefferson Farfan was looking forward to a fresh challenge after he completed his switch to Arabian Gulf League title chasers Al Jazira from Schalke 04.

Farfan, 30, completed the Pride of Abu Dhabi’s non-Emirati business when he joined for €6 million (Dh24.2m) on Thursday. The experienced Peru forward has signed a three-year contract, worth €3.2 million (Dh12.9m) per annum.

“I’m very happy to join Al Jazira and I would like to thank the Pride of Abu Dhabi excutive management and fans for supporting this transaction,” he said.

Farfan joins Brazil attacking midfielder Thiago Neves and South Korea defensive midfielder Park Jong-woo in a new look four-player foreign quota, only top scoring Montenegro centre forward Mirko Vucinic being retained.

His move ends a seven-year association with Schalke which produced 39 Bundesliga strikes in 167 appearances.
