Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly pushing Napoli to sign Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodriguez from Real Madrid.

The pair have been together during Rodriguez’s first season with Los Blancos in 2014 and Ancelotti’s short stint with Bayern Munich in the 2016/17 season.

It is believed that the German club will not activate the option to convert Rodriguez’s loan into a permanent deal for €42 million.

Madrid have set a price-tag of €60 million and are unwilling to keep him at the club.

Marca cited II Matino while reporting that the player’s agent Jorge Mendes admitted Rodriguez sees himself reunited with his former boss at the Italian club.

The 27-year-old has slowly faded out of the Bayern team and will be looking to joining a club where there he can enjoy more playing time.

After a positive debut season with Napoli, Ancelotti will be looking to build a competitive squad that can challenge for the Serie A title and Rodriguez could be a great addition.
