Bayern Munich will rival Manchester City in the race to sign Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old has been on City’s radar for a long time, having consolidated his spot as Ajax’s starting centre-back during the 2016/17 season, which culminated with an appearance in the Europa League final against Manchester United.

Ajax director Marc Overmars has placed a €75million price tag on the towering Dutch international, a fee Bayern Munich and Man City would be willing to pay for one of the rising stars in the game.

De Ligt is represented by Mino Raiola, and the controversial figure will be central in any transfer negotiations between Ajax and the Premier League and Bundesliga champions.
