French midfielder Adrien Rabiot will watch his contract at Paris Saint-Germain run out by the end of the season and has refused to sign an extension.

In light of this situation, Sporting director Antero Henrique declared that the player “will remain on the substitutes’ bench indefinitely”.

The 23-year-old is free to sign a pre-contract with another club from January 1 and Barcelona – who have been admirers of the player for a long time – are frontrunners to seal his signature.

La Parisien suggests that an agreement between the player and club is reached and the Frenchman could leave for the Catalan club as early as January.

The PSG Youth product has made only 20 appearances for his club this term, scoring and supplying twice.

Barcelona view him as a cheap option who can strengthen the midfield with Denis Suarez set to leave and Rafinha sidelined due to injury for rest of the season.
