Mark van Bommel is hoping his close links to veteran Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben can tempt him into making a comeback at PSV Eindhoven, according to Bild.

Robben, 34, announced this month that he will call time on a trophy-laden decade with the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season. The ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid superstar declined to say whether he would seek a new club, or retire.

This has led to an opening for Eredivisie champions PSV.

Their head coach, Van Bommel, played with Robben at club and international level, while the player himself made his name at Philips Stadion from 2002-04.
