Roma are set to swoop for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl, Calciomercato reports.

The 23-year-old is one of European’s most promising young players, but has had a difficult start to the new season, with a number of sub-par performances for Lucien Favre’s side.

Dortmund are keen to keep hold of the German international but could be resigned to losing him if Roma put their full weight behind a transfer bid during the January transfer window.
