Frenkie De Jong has become Barcelona‘s top priority in the transfer market.

The Spanish giants are seeking a long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets and to that end, have identified the Ajax midfielder as the chief candidate, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Busquets is still going strong at the age of 30 but De Jong’s rapid development means Barcelona risk losing out to another club unless they act quickly.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City are said to be interested in the 21-year-old who is proving to be instrumental in Ronald Koeman’s resurgent Netherlands national team.

De Jong shone most recently in a UEFA Nations League 2-0 win over world champions France.
