Al Nasr’s stunning swoop for Alvaro Negredo was officially completed on Tuesday evening after they announced that the former Real Madrid, Manchester City and Spain striker had inked a two-year contract.

Negredo, 33, was pictured holding up his new shirt in a sight to lift all Blue Wave supporters after their abysmal start in the Arabian Gulf League. Ivan Jovanovic’s men have surprisingly lost both fixtures, despite ex-France centre midfielder Yohan Cabaye being among their previous summer arrivals.

La fiera de Vallecas (the Beast of Vallecas) comes from Besiktas, where he scored 18 times in 46 matches. A €1 million (Dh4.3m) termination fee was paid to the Turkish giants and he is expected to pick up €3.5m (Dh15m) per annum.

“Al Nasr formally contracts with Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo,” they tweeted. “He comes from the Turkish club Besiktas in a contract that lasts for two seasons.

“He will wear the No11 shirt.”

Negredo is likely to replace Iury de Castilho, 23, in the four-player foreign quota. The Brazilian target man hasn’t impressed since being bought from Ukraine’s Zorya Luhansk during June.

Countrymen Samuel Rosa – picked up from relegated Hatta – and Corinthians loanee Marquinhos Gabriel round off the non-Emirati quartet.

Negredo landed in Dubai on Sunday to undergo medical tests and finalise the switch. He had been linked with a move away from Besiktas throughout the summer – Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr were rejected last month.

A debut could be handed to him in Friday’s top-flight clash with champions Al Ain.
