Fresh from being named the 2017-18 UEFA Player of the Year award winner ahead of former Real Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric has reiterated his desire to stay at the Bernabeu.

The Croatian World Cup finalist has been at the epicentre of widespread speculation this summer, linking him with a move to Inter Milan.

Indeed, Whites club president Florentino Perez lodged a complaint to FIFA as he felt the Italian giants had approached the 32-year-old playmaker illegally.

However, don’t expect Modric to go anywhere in the near future.

“I’m not happy… I’m extremely happy at Real Madrid and I want to continue at this club for several years,” Modric said at the awards bash in Monaco on Thursday night.

The former Tottenham star’s Bernabeu deal runs until 2020 but he is expected to be handed fresh and more lucrative terms imminently by his current employers.
