Lyon captain Nabil Fekir says his failed summer transfer to Liverpool is “ancient history”.

The Frenchman was set to move to Anfield this summer, with personal terms having been agreed with the Premier League club, only for the move to fall through at the 11th hour.

Fekir, who went on to win the World Cup with France in July, said: “The missed transfer to Liverpool is totally digested.

“These are things that happen. It’s like that. We must advance. It’s ancient history.

Pressed on why the move collapsed, Fekir said: “I heard several things. The real reason is that they (Liverpool) only know it.”
