Aaron Ramsey’s Arsenal future has been thrown into further doubt after the north London club refused to accept the player’s wage demands, the Evening Standard reports.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s Gunners deal expires in the summer of 2019, and despite talks, the concerned parties have yet to reach an agreement over a new contract.

It is thought the Wales international wants a significant pay increase – believed to be double what he is currently earning (£110,000-a-week) – to stay at the Emirates long-term but Arsenal have set their stall out and will not pay up.

As such, it remains to be seen whether Ramsey will remain an Arsenal player for much longer with talk of an exit to Europe.

Chelsea were thought to be in for the former Cardiff man but that transfer never materialised.
