Barcelona are looking to swoop in ahead of Liverpool and sign Adrien Rabiot, French newspaper L’Equipe claim.

The Reds are still interested in signing the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder but with the Premier League transfer window closed for the summer, would only be able to bring him in during the January window.

Liverpool were hoping to get the 23-year-old signed on a pre-contract agreement until the winter but Barcelona are now attempting to recruit him this summer.

“It’s not certain if Adrien stays at PSG. It all depends on him,” Thomas Tuchel said after a 3-0 Ligue 1 victory over Caen. “For me he’s a great player. He can grow even more and become a top player.
