Germany Under-21 centre-back Thilo Kehrer is set to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain from Schalke after the two clubs reached an agreement on a deal.

Kehrer, 21, excelled as his nation won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship last month and also played 27 Bundesliga matches in 2017/18 as his club finished runners-up to Bayern Munich.

“The economic dimension, in other words the transfer fee for a player whose contract expires next year, is why we accepted this move,” said Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel.

German daily Bild reported that the Arena AufSchalke-outfit will receive €37 million (Dh155.2m)

Brazil captain Thiago Silva, compatriot Marquinhos and France’s World Cup 2018 winner Presnel Kimpembe offer competition for a spot in head coach Thomas Tuchel’s XI.
