The prospect of Thibaut Courtois signing for Real Madrid this summer is becoming less and less, Marca reports.

The deal hinges on Chelsea and given the Blues have yet to find a suitable No1 replacement who could fill Courtois’s boots, the Belgian is set to stay put in west London.

Real have been pushing to complete a deal for the 26-year-old, but Maurizio Sarri’s men do not want to enter the new season without a recognised first-choice stopper and be in a rush against time time to recruit ahead of the August 9 transfer window deadline in England.

According to Bernabeu sources, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is still hopeful of concluding a swoop for the World Cup hero but needs to get it done sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Courtois is set to play for the Premier League side in Sunday’s Community Shield clash against Manchester City at Wembley.
