Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham has long since been uncertain but the defender has revealed that he will be back in London on time for pre-season training.

“I will return to London this weekend for the start of pre-season with my club,” the Spurs star told HLN Sport.

The Belgian international has been the subject of plenty of interest from Manchester United this summer with Jose Mourinho keen on bolstering his defence.

However, Spurs have been difficult to negotiate with and United have instead shifted their focus to Barcelona’s Yerry Mina.

Alderweireld has refused to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane and is expected to wait for a move next summer when a release clause allowing him to leave for £25 million will be triggered.
