Real Madrid back Marco Asensio to star as €200m move for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is ruled out

Real Madrid have decided to give Marco Asensio a more prominent role in the first team this season instead of signing Eden Hazard, according to Marca.

Gareth Bale is being backed to play a starring role for Los Blancos following Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus and Asensio is set to support him in attack.

Madrid believe Chelsea’s 200m valuation of Hazard is unreasonable and would only pay a transfer fee in that region for Neymar at the moment.

However, with the Paris Saint-Germain star confirming his stay in the French capital, Julen Lopetegui is happy to make Asensio a regular in the first XI.
